Chapter 533: A Secretary

"I can't believe you actually pulled it off." Minino shook his head with an expression of amazement on his face as he made his way to the goalkeeper.

"Well, I didn't exactly hit all of them if we're being honest," Dave responded, scratching the back of his head, an awkward smile on his face.

"True but I didn't say anything about that so it counts, I did say all you had to do was knock them down and that was all you did." The midfielder shrugged.

"Hey, bro, are you sure you're not taking anything?"

Dave turned to his right after hearing that to find Ferran closely scanning him closely with his left hand on his chin.

"Taking what?" Dave asked.

"You can shoot consecutively while maintaining your precision, that's not something just anyone can pull off, not even our Mateo." He articulated, turning to Mateo who didn't have anything to say. "Heck, I'm not even sure Ciro is that good with shooting, especially from such a great distance."

After saying that, the midfielder squatted down to inspect his boots.

"Is it in your boots?"

"No, those are just normal boots," Dave uttered.

"Then I guess you're just one of those anomalies that appear in the world of football every once in a while." He sighed as he got up on his feet.

"Anomalies?"

"You know, exceptional players who make things that aren't supposed to be easy look easy. Two great examples would be Ciro and Hernandez, a few more seasons and you might perfectly fit into that category alongside Mateo…"

"Alright, that's enough of that, Ferran." Minino chimed in before pushing Ferran away.

"Hey."

"Anyway, Dave, it looks like I now owe you, my lunch, a deluxe dinner, and five thousand Euros."

"You know you don't…."

"No, I gave you my word so you will be getting all of that, you don't get to show me any pity because I don't need it." He declared.

"Alright, if you say so." Dave shrugged.

"Good game, bro." He said before bumping the goalkeeper on the shoulder with his fist.

"Good game, I guess."

<And there he goes>

'Leave me alone, Catherine.'

The players went back to training just after that and after a while, it was finally time to call it a day.

Calling it a day was only on the pitch as they had their normal bonding session outside the pitch, and after that, the goalkeeper made his way home.

"Oh, I'm pretty wiped." He sighed just as he stopped in front of the door.

<This says otherwise>

'Well, regardless of what that number says, I feel tired.'

<I see, so it's a mental state>

'I guess you could say that.' He responded, reaching for the door with his key.

<Well, this is certainly interesting>

'Huh?'

<Nothing, just open the door>

Getting that response, Dave stopped just short of inserting the key into the keyhole.

"Hmmm." He mumbled before proceeding to insert the key before pressing his thumb against the knob.

He heard the door unlock after that, and without hesitation, he slowly pushed it open.

He expected to find Emma on the couch busy with something just as always and although she was there, it wasn't just her.

Just beside his wife on the couch was another person.

A young woman dressed in a black suit with a black skirt and black tights covering her legs.

She saw him enter the house and just before he could even say anything, she got up on her feet.

"Good day." She greeted with a little bow.

Now that she was facing him, he could properly see what she looked like.

Long dark hair flowing down her back, pale glowing skin, a pretty oval face with long eyelashes, and charming brown eyes. To top things off, she had a slender but somewhat curvy build.

She was an extremely beautiful lady, one that left Dave speechless for a few seconds.

"Um, hello." He responded before quickly walking past her to get to Emma.

<Wow, you're ranked first on the ranking for all the shameless people I know>

"Um, hey, babe, who's that?" He asked in a whispering tone just after stopping in front of her.

"Oh, that's…." She slowly turned to the lady at that moment and paused. "You know what, I'll leave the introductions to Clark."

"Wait, Clark's here?"

"Yeah, he just went upstairs a few minutes ago to use the bathroom." She nodded before taking a fry from the plate of fries sitting in front of her.

"Oh." He muttered before turning to the staircase.

'If Clark was the one that brought her here then I can think of a few reasons why.'

"Hey." He called before leaning closer to Emma. "Clark didn't tell you anything about breaking up with Emilia, did he?"

"No, he didn't say anything of the sort and I don't think he would do that."

"You sound so sure."

"I am." She responded with a smile before picking up another fry. "Because unless he has a good reason, I'll…."

She pressed hard on the fry at that moment, snapping it into two.

<Yikes>

"There you are."

Dave turned around after hearing that voice to find Clark making his way down the stairs.

"You didn't say anything about coming over."

"Yeah, I forgot. Sorry."

It didn't take him long to get to Dave and now he had his right hand on his shoulder.

"So, what's this all about?" The goalkeeper asked, turning to the lady who was still on her feet.

"I guess I don't need to be psychic to tell that you're asking about her."

"Mhm."

"This is Shinobu Anderson, she's a good friend of mine and I suppose you could say we're in a similar line of work." He disclosed. "You already know this but Shinobu, this is my best friend Dave Richards."

"It's a pleasure to meet you." She said with a little bow.

"The pleasure is all mine," Dave responded before turning to Clark. "What do you mean you share a similar line of work?" He asked, sounding a bit confused.

"Well, let's just say she wants to become an agent one day but now…."

"What?"

"Well, depending on what you want, she could be very useful to you. You know someone to help you handle your schedule and fix your appointments, taking the load off my shoulder."

<He isn't supposed to be doing all that for you to be honest>

'I know.'

"Anyway, you should make time to talk to Shinobu, it can be now or anytime you want and if you like her, you can give her the job, I believe she'll make a nice secretary."

<She'll make more than a nice secretary>

'I don't like what you're implying, Cat.'

<Sorry, my bad>

Dave let out a sigh after that before turning to Shinobu who was looking straight at him, her gaze unwavering.

'Well, Clark did recommend her but I'll still have to find out the kind of person she is.'

<Well, it was only a matter of time before you needed staff to handle stuff for you, this is a step toward that>
